Brandon Liau
Brandon Liau, also known as Don, is a co-founder of Skolar Malaysia and a multifaceted individual with a strong passion for lifelong learning education, entrepreneurship, digital content creation, and technology. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in Business Mathematics from Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) and a master’s degree in Mathematics Education from Universiti Malaya (UM).
Don’s expertise lies in the graphic design platform Canva, which he self-taught. He has delivered over 200 Canva courses between 2021 and 2025, amassing over 45,000 followers on Instagram, over 30,000 members in the Komuniti Belajar Canva Percuma (KBCP) Facebook group, and has trained over 200 Canva Trainers in Malaysia.
His courses transcend basic design skills, incorporating Canva for teaching and learning with pedagogical approaches, corporate communication, and creating an online brand persona and digital products. As a founder of Skolar Academy, he aims to empower lifelong learning skills, particularly in Canva, for Malaysians, and beyond.
Don’s contributions have been widely recognized. He is the first Malaysian to receive the distinction of Canva Verified Expert (CVE), a title held by only 45 experts worldwide. Additionally, he is an HRDC Certified Trainer and an adjunct lecturer at Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD).
His expertise in Canva, coupled with his passion for education, entrepreneurship, and technology, makes him a valuable asset to Skolar Malaysia and the wider community. Don is committed to transforming how digital tools like Canva are used in education and beyond, fostering creativity and innovation among his learners.
Dr. Mohammad Tazli Azizan
Dr. Mohammad Tazli Azizan is a distinguished educational consultant and co-founder of Skolar Malaysia.
With a robust background in academia, he has made noteworthy contributions to teaching and learning ecosystem. He has been associated with esteemed institutions like Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UNIMAP), and currently holds the position of Associate Professor at Universiti Brunei Darussalam, specifically at the Center for Lifelong Learning (C3L).
Dr. Tazli holds a PhD in chemical engineering from Imperial College London since 2014 and is a certified HRDCorp trainer. Throughout his career, he has showcased his expertise in learner-centred pedagogical approaches, as well as harnessing AI tools and technologies for teaching and learning, enhancing productivity, enabling effective problem-solving, and facilitating postgraduate research.
His extensive portfolio includes conducting diverse courses and workshops in these domains, empowering educators and students to leverage the potential of these tools throughout their educational journey. He is the second Malaysian to receive the distinction of Canva Verified Expert (CVE), alongside Brandon Liau.
Dr. Tazli’s contributions to the field of education, coupled with his expertise in AI tools and pedagogical approaches, establish him as a revered educator and consultant.
